Maxi Dress Madness

I jumped onto Shopstyle to search for some summer inspiration and the fruits of my labor are above.

Top 5 reasons I love maxi dresses:

1. Nothing beats a maxi dress for battling the hot, hot heat.
2. All you need is great jewelry - the dress does the rest.
3. It always looks put together.
4. Versatility: can dress it up or dress it down.
5. You can EAT!

Jumpsuit: An Adult's Onesie

The Jumpsuit has reared its infantile head yet again and while I've been dead set against wearing an adult onesie, I couldn't resist getting this one. The fit is amazing and the cut is timeless. Oh and it was $15 at Forever21!!!

No shirt, no shoes, no....?

A closeup so you could see the simple, but thoughtful detailing of the bust and the minimal pleating in the waist line. What you can't see is also some boning within the corset area that really helps create the great shape.

And of course, we ALWAYS gotta give shoes the extra love they deserve :)

Jumpsuit: Forever 21
Belt & Shoes: Steve Madden
Earrings: New York & Co.

PS: I love New York & Co. for their jewelry. Time after time, they take your basics and change it up just enough for it to be new. Another great thing is they will produce it in various metal finishes. I probably have the same hoops in gold, silver & gunmetal. Sometimes, they'll do rose gold and brushed finishes as well.

L.A.M.B. Lust

L.A.M.B. LOVE

There was a sudden possibility of going to the No Doubt concert that fizzled within a few hours, but it did remind me of Gwen Stefani and her L.A.M.B. line. I remember lusting after the coats, the dresses, the SHOES and handbags that brought forth an entire spectrum of covetous feelings.

For the record, I covet all 4 pairs of shoes above. Both the strappy structures would be a welcome addition to my already black and strappy shoe collection. The feather embellished heels look great, but I can't decide whether they'll look good on my feet. And the talon-heeled, cutout booties = all covered up but still sexy. I do love talon heels on shoes, but some of them are so exaggerated, I'll let someone else have bird feet.

Anyone who knows me, can immediately pick out my personal favorite in the upper left corner. I was able to get my hands on a similar JLo shoe for a mere $50(!) when I was in Philly. Post to come soon on that fantastically fortunate situation along with another...DIY;)

PS Click on the photo above for more info on each shoe :)

Body Chain Reaction

body chain

Body chains have been making their presence known in the past couple of years - have also been seein' them creep up on the blog circuit. I wanted my body chain to be bold, so I went with a thicker chain. You can get all sorts of metal finishes and widths at craft and hardware stores. Grab yourself a pair of pliers and you're ready to join the chain gang ;)

Karmaloop: Married to the Mob Mary Jane Tank Dress

Found this on Karmaloop for $58. Love the racerback and the rounded bottom. While it may work as a bathing suit cover-up, I'd slip a long black tank or a bandeau top underneath, or any bold colored underthing. Finish it off with some black mid calf boots and VOILA!

Karmaloop's pretty great for fun, streetstyle finds. They often do free shipping promos, so browse away!

Studded Maxi Dress

So quite a stretch of time between the first and second posts, no? Been runnin' around, took a trip to Philly - photos to come soon. Enough with the excuses...I now bring you my studded maxi dress! DIY, yay!

Wind + hair x lipgloss = mayjah situation, as exhibited by the look my face :(

From this stance, looks like pants?

And a close up of the studs for your viewing pleasure. I usually just think about one element of what I hope to see on the dress and work from there. My smarty pants sister can throw the raw element onto fancy software and place each stud exactly where she wants it. But not too shabby for spontaneous embellishment.

Dress: Wet Seal
Bracelets: New York & Co.
Studs: Pat Catan's Craft Center & Michael's
